What are seven trillion emails among friends? That’s the number of emails sent through SendGrid over the past decade, according to the email delivery platform. And the number is growing rapidly, with six million incoming emails being processed every second. In honor of the occasion, SendGrid created a timeline from its founding in 2009 to last year, when it handled 1.5 billion emails a day via its email API. It also set a new target: to reach 10 trillion emails in the next five years. SendGrid is now seeking ways to navigate a shifting email landscape, which includes GDPR and other data privacy laws, and how to keep spam out of inboxes.
